Anti-trust authorities give DIA the unconditional go-ahead to acquire Germany’s Schlecker

DIA will integrate Schlecker’s 1,168 establishments into its store network bringing the total to 8,150 across its seven operating markets

Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentación has received the green-light from Spain and Portugal’s anti-trust authorities (the Comisión Nacional de la Competencia and the Autoridade da Concorrência, respectively) for the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Schlecker Spain and, indirectly, 100% of the share capital of Schlecker Portugal.

The transaction, valued at €70.5 million (free of debt), has been approved unconditionally. Accordingly, DIA will integrate all of Schlecker’s establishments (1,127 stores and three warehouses in Spain and 41 stores and one warehouse in Portugal) into its own store network.
