The Company converts 8 stores into online order preparation and shipping platforms.
Expands its home delivery services to nearly 500 stores thanks to an agreement with Glovo.
This alliance adds to the one DIA already had previously with Amazon Prime Now.
The Company has reinforced its online sales staff by 1,000 people.
DIA Group expands its online shopping service in response to the growing demand the company has converted 8 stores, 5 in Madrid, 1 in Seville, 1 in Cadiz and 1 in Malaga for the exclusive use of online order preparation. These stores join the other three that the Company had: 1 in Madrid and 2 in Barcelona.
To be able to respond to the high demand, the company has reinforced its staff by 1,000 people, especially order completion staff, better known as “pickers”, and home delivery personnel. At a technological level, technical improvements have been implemented in the dia.es website in order to ensure performance.
This reinforcement has been possible thanks to DIA’s extensive network of local shops, its logistics, commercial, technological and human resources teams, and the joint work of many areas, which have made it possible to take this project live in just a few days.
Agreement between DIA and Glovo
The two companies have reached a collaboration agreement to deliver orders at home from a network of 500 DIA stores throughout Spain.
With this agreement, DIA reaches 494 towns with its online service, which means extending the range by 54 new towns which represent 2.5 millions of people. Thus, DIA and Glovo join forces to offer a wide range of products delivered to your home quickly. Consumers can access the service through the dia.es website or Glovo’s own App.
Both companies have reinforced hygiene measures by using gloves and masks in the preparation and delivery of orders. The delivery person leaves the purchase at the customer’s door, ensuring a security distance of two meters from the customer and is responsible for signing the order on their behalf, eliminating any physical contact.
This partnership is in addition to the one DIA already has in place with Amazon Prime Now.
“We are adapting in record time to meet the growing demand for online shopping from customers. We are looking for all the options that are in our hands to make this possible and continue increasing our ability to serve and reach everyone,” said Ricardo Álvarez, CEO of DIA Spain.
