Our Local Impact
With over 45 years of history,
Dia is a company of great value to the economic and social fabric of each neighbourhood and community in which it operates.
Dia has become a driving force in the local economies of Spain and Argentina thanks to its investment in achieving a strong physical and online presence, its ability to generate both direct and indirect employment through its franchise network, and its firm commitment to local food and products. This enables the company to offer a complete, varied, and high-quality range in collaboration with more than 1,500 local suppliers across both countries.
Dia’s contribution to the local economy is reflected in its impact on GDP, employment, tax contributions, and investment in purchases from local suppliers.
Dia’s Impact in Spain
With more than 45 years of history in Spain, Dia’s contribution is seen in its impact on GDP, employment, tax revenues, and investment in local suppliers.

In 2024, Dia Spain contributed over €6.8 billion to the economy, representing 0.43% of the national GDP. For every euro of direct activity, Dia generates a total of €3.5 in the economy. In addition, the company made a fiscal contribution of €1,900 million this year, equivalent to 1% of the revenue recorded in the General State Budget.
Furthermore, as an economic driver, Dia has a significant impact on employment in the country. The Dia ecosystem includes more than 23,000 people, including indirect employment generated through its franchise network. For every direct job, Dia creates four additional jobs in the labour market, bringing the total employment impact to over 100,000 jobs —0.46% of total national employment— highlighting Dia’s importance in regions such as Extremadura, Castilla y León, and Castilla-La Mancha.
To offer a comprehensive and high-quality product range, Dia works with over 1,000 national suppliers in Spain, from whom it made purchases totalling €3.2 billion in 2023.
Dia relies on its network of Spanish suppliers to develop complete Dia-branded product ranges using exclusively local and region-specific varieties. One example of this is its support for the livestock sector, with purchases of 115 million litres of milk in 2023 and an investment of €200 million in meat. The company also supports the fruit and vegetable sector, investing €30 million in purchasing stone fruit during the 2024 summer season.

Dia’s Impact in Argentina
After more than 25 years of operations in the country, Dia is a company of great value to Argentinians thanks to its value proposition and its economic and employment contributions. In 2021, the company contributed €1.27 billion to Argentina’s GDP, equivalent to 0.3% of the national total.
In addition to the more than 3,500 people who make up the Dia team in Argentina, nearly 4,500 more work within its franchise network, establishing the company as a driver of employment and local entrepreneurship.
At a local level, Dia works with around 500 national suppliers, from whom it made 96% of its purchases—an investment of more than €1 billion in 2024. The supplier network includes over 200 Argentine SMEs that produce high-quality Dia-branded products across categories such as food, beverages, personal care, and home care.
