Furthermore, in May DIA has converted nine of the Schlecker stores which the company has in Spain to Clarel stores. By autonomous region: Catalunya (6), Basque country (1), Cantabria (1) and La Rioja (1).
Clarel arises from the purchase of Schlecker stores in Spain and Portugal, and the establishments are currently being remodelled to the new banner with a more modern and close image. The company’s Schlecker stores will be progressively integrated into the Clarel banner.
With these openings and conversions, the company will create 154 jobs and strengthen its presence in Spain, where it had 4,781 stores at the end of 2014, of which 1646 operated as franchises.
DIA is also making a significant effort to provide financial support measures to the franchises, offering new systems which benefit future franchisees and which aim to promote this activity.
